There is a secret many mainstream webmasters don't realize, and that is adult internet business pioneered most of the advancements in the modern internet. The first affiliate program was created by an adult webmaster. Many of the traffic generating and marketing techniques used by major mainstream websites were first developed on adult web sites.
Adult webmasters have always been ahead of the curve. Corporate America and mainstream webmasters are always months and many times years behind the adult internet industry. It’s easy to forget about the adult arena. When publications list the top 100 websites in terms of traffic, adult sites are omitted, even though they comprise over a third of the list in reality.
The biggest misconception
People think that getting adult traffic is easier than getting mainstream traffic. I will be the first to tell you that adult webmasters in general are better at getting traffic, and it is said that they network more, trade traffic more efficiently and smarter, and have a better grasp on what traffic is, adult webmasters are better at getting it.[ Traffic that is] That includes mainstream traffic too.
Link Trading
Link trading is not the same as traffic trading. Mainstream webmasters like to trade links thinking that link trading will give them a higher Google Page Rank which will bring them more traffic. Most webmasters like to bury their links so the search engines will see them and no one else.
Traffic Trading a win-win situation.
Let me explain why...If you get in 10,000 visitors to your site and can’t sell them, ship them off to a friend, I mean to say just because they didn’t like what you had to offer, doesn’t mean they won’t like what he is offering. Then in return he sends you 10,000 fresh visitors. So instead of having 10,000 visitors now you have 20,000.
Understanding Traffic
It is said that Adult webmasters have a better understanding about how to use their existing traffic. The days of those mainstreamers who work hard getting 100 visitors per day to their site, and leading those visitors to a landing page or squeezepage hoping to join your mailing list,or convert them into sales, are almost extinct.
Whats Changed?
The days of people willingly handing over their email address are gone. Back in the 90's you would have near 100% of your visitors convert by giving up their email, but its getting to the point where every year less and less people are willing to part with their email. Using a landing page where you ask for an email is becoming less effective.

For those doing the hard work for their 100 visitors per day, you need something out of EVERY surfer that hits your site. In my mind the best use is to trade it away for even more traffic.
Re-think the way you use traffic
Most websites are designed to force the visitors to click on the links that go to affiliates or other things that will make them money. The link trade links are put there in case the surfer incidentally clicks on it, but if you were to force your traffic towards your traffic trading links and making your affiliate links the incidental links , you will not only get more traffic, but you will also have higher conversions, because those that click on your affiliate links would have to go out of their way to click on your affiliate links, which means they are more interested. Thats the only way to build traffic.
Improving your odds
There are several things to do to improve your odds, and design plays a big part. Finding the best tricks to get extra traffic back from your trades. Developing techniques that gets surfers to click on multiple links. To get your hands on these techniques go to traffic from scratch.
Submit your site to toplists, which in my opinion are not as good as whats called a "friends list". But toplists do the job. Toplists use the old 468x60 graphic banners that shout out "I'm a banner ad, ingore me", where as the Friends Lists idea was incorporated by mySpace taken from the adult industry. Basically it’s a grid of 100x150 graphics [banners], but the graphics are really pictures that just scream “Click Me!”.

The theory is easy to understand really....If we were to take that webmaster with the 100 visitors a day, who sends traffic to his squeezepage, its only ever 100 a day consistently. But what if those 100 visitors instead of sending them to a squeezepage, were to be sent to a site that returns you an average 3 to 1, thats three visitors for every one, your 100 is now 400, a 400% increase in visitors. So what happens when you send those 300 off and get 900 I'm sure you get the picture.That’s why networking, research, and data tracking is so important.
Even bad trades won’t hurt you. If you send out 100 visitors that didn’t purchase your product, then you have lost nothing. If your trading partner only sends you half of that amount back then you still get 50 fresh visitors. Someone just starting out, with some guidance, can easily get a 1-to-1 ratio which is more than enough to grow their site at an exponential rate if done correctly.
Conclusion
There are simple to use scripts and software that you can use to generate huge amounts of traffic to your site. what people need to understand is that the more traffic you we trade the more traffic we have, to get traffic you need to give traffic away.
